​Packing for a study abroad experience involves careful preparation to ensure you have all essentials while avoiding overpacking. Here is a Packing Guide to help navigate which important documents and items to bring with you and what you can buy in the US.

Mailing & Package Services in the U.S.

USPS – United States Postal Service

  • Most widely used and affordable mailing option for letters, small packages, and official documents.
  • Offers PO Boxes at local post offices for secure mail delivery.
  • Services include:
    • First-Class Mail (for letters and documents)
    • Priority Mail / Express (faster delivery)
    • International Shipping (flat-rate options)

UPS – United Parcel Service

    • Known for reliable shipping and tracking, especially for larger packages.
    • Offers local UPS Stores where students can:
      • Ship package
      • Print documents
      • Receive packages (some stores allow you to use their address for deliveries)

FedEx

  • Great for express and international shipping.
  • Offers FedEx Office locations (often near campuses) with services like:
    • Printing
    • Packing
    • Shipping
    • Receiving packages

Amazon Hub Locker

  • You can have your package shipped to a secure locker on or near campus instead of your housing.
  • You’ll get a pickup code when it’s delivered.
  • Great for students who move often or don’t have secure mailboxes.

DHL Express (International-Focused)

  • Known for fast and reliable international shipping—used often for sending documents to/from other countries.
  • Slightly more expensive but faster than USPS for international items.
