
Xiang (Shawn) Wan
Xiang (Shawn) Wan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Systems & Analytics at the Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University. His research interests lie primarily in three areas: algorithmic product recommendation systems, AI & Blockchain, and the digital economy. He uses machine learning & AI, digital experimentation (including field experiments, quasi-experiments, and laboratory experiments), applied econometrics, and analytical modeling in his research.
He is the recipient of the Best Dissertation Runner-up Award of the Workshop on Information Technologies and Systems in 2021 (WITS 2021). His research has received several competitive research grants from the Digital Markets Initiative’s Competitive Research Award Program at the University of Florida. A couple of his works are currently in the advanced stage of top-tier IS journals, such as Management Science and Information Systems Research.
He is a program committee member of the Conference on Information Systems and Technology 2022 (CIST 2022) and a session chair of 2022 INFORMS Annual Meeting. He serves frequently as the reviewer for leading IS journals and conferences, such as Information Systems Research (ISR), MIS Quarterly, Production and Operations Management Journal (POM), ICIS, CIST, WITS, AMCIS, and HICSS.
He received his Ph.D. in Information Systems and Operations Management from University of Florida (2022). He also holds an M.S. in Management Science & Engineering from Renmin University of China (2017) and a B.S. in Engineering Management from Wuhan University (2014).
