Company Field Trips Support Career Discernment
We recently initiated a new company field trip program to provide students with an opportunity to visit local companies, meet ACE/SCU alumni and hear presentations about various industries and job functions. Since we started, we have visited LinkedIn, Texas Instruments, Apple and Intuitive Surgical.
During our most recent company tour, sophomores visited Intuitive Surgical to learn more about the company and careers with the finance team. ACE students were introduced to a number of professionals ranging from recent college graduates, including SCU alumni Prianka Singh and Brandon Lamm, to experienced directors at the company. Our students were able to learn about the company’s corporate culture and mission, the finance rotation program, and the summer internship program. Intuitive Surgical also gave students the opportunity to use their signature innovation, the da Vinci robot through a hands-on demo.
Previously, students visited ACE alum Cassie Braun ‘11 at LinkedIn. At the start of the visit, students received personalized InMaps, which are visual representations of an individual’s LinkedIn network, a great tool to better understand how LinkedIn works to keep people connected. The ACErs who went on the field trip loved the experience and recommend the experience to others. Eoin Lyons was especially enthusiastic, stating that “This trip was a phenomenal look at the tech world by a recent alum, and Cassie was able to share so much about her own experiences, both during and after SCU, and how they have shaped her professionally and personally.”
