When presenting yourself to a potential employer, it’s important to remember the saying, “Your first impression is always a lasting impression.” The first thing prospective employers will notice about you is your appearance, which is why dressing for success is so important. Here are some tips to keep in mind regarding your attire for networking and interviewing:

  1. Make sure that your clothing is professional and conservative, appropriate to the industry.
  2. Always ensure that everything about your attire is neat and clean. This includes your clothing, hair, nails, and shoes. Your shoes should be in good condition.
  3. Carefully choose your accessories so as to not distract from you, the focus of the interview.
  4. If you are wearing makeup, keep it subtle.
  5. Don’t put on too much fragrance. Less is more.
  6. Cover visible tattoos and remove body jewelry to avoid distraction.

Remember, you want the potential employer to focus on you and your skills, not your appearance. Keeping these tips in mind will help you to make a good, lasting impression.
