Marketing Major

Areas of Interest at SCU and LSB:
I am a declared marketing major, so I am definitely interested in that sector in the Leavey School of Business, as well as retail studies and real estate. I am also interested and passionate about making campus a safer and more inclusive place for women and people of color, including myself.

What are your SCU and LSB activities/general hobbies:
At Santa Clara, I am a copywriter for The Redwood, which is Santa Clara’s official yearbook. I also got involved with Leavey Ambassadors this year! When campus was in person, I enjoyed spending time with my friends in Benson, studying in the open air section of the library, going to the Malley Center for a daily workout, and going to Ramen Taka for a delicious dinner! Some of my hobbies are photography, playing tennis, playing guitar, piano, and mandolin, and going on adventures!

What global experiences have you had in college?
Although I have only been out of the country one time in my life, the people at Santa Clara have made me feel much more worldly! I have met and become friends with students from all over the world, from India to Slovakia to Guam and Mexico. I have learned so much about different cultures and practices through my friends.

What internship/employment opportunities have you taken advantage of at LSB?
I have utilized Santa Clara’s “Handshake” interface to land my first sales and marketing internship with a New York based startup called Comduit in which I have been participating in for the past five months. I am looking forward to attending the virtual career fairs that are being offered to hopefully plan for an internship over the summer or for next school year.

Favorite LSB Class and Why?
My favorite LSB class so far was Business 70, which was my first business class I took at Santa Clara. The professor, Tim Harris, was very friendly and well-versed in the business world, as he had spent a majority of his professional career in the corporate world. Business 70 solidified my interest in the business world and educated me on the basics of the field.

What made you choose to attend LSB?
I decided to attend the Leavey School of Business because of its phenomenal reputation and high ranking, as well as its small class sizes. Because of the class sizes, I have been able to form close personal relationships with almost all of my professors, even in the online format. I also had some friends who were already in the LSB and they all had wonderful things to say about the program. The location in Silicon Valley with endless opportunities to network sealed the deal for me!

What advice you wish you had while applying to college?
My best advice would be to visit the campus and pay attention to the atmosphere and how you feel. Walk around, talk to the people, and ask yourself if you could envision yourself there. If you are going to be going to school there for the next four years, it is important that you truly love it and feel at home!
