In a few words describe what you like about the Leavey Scholars Program.
I like the chance to build connections with other business school students. I've met many different people through the program and have gotten to work with various friends on projects. Also, the program feels like a nice reward for the work that I put into my classes, providing me with a chance to pursue classes with an interconnected group of students.

What has been your favorite Leavey Scholars class and why?
My favorite Leavey Scholars class has been MGMT80S with Professor Le. It was the most unique class I've taken at SCU so far because it was heavily focused on a case study involving contributions from the entire class. The structure was free form and much of the day-to-day organization was carried out by students in the class. I also had the class with some of the friends I had met on campus which was fun. Overall, it was an extremely interesting class and we were able to contribute this case study to the other MGMT80 classes for a competition.

In a few words describe what you like about the Leavey Scholars Program.
I love the community, being surrounded by driven, high achievers who genuinely push each other to grow. It’s an inspiring environment to be in.

What has been your favorite Leavey Scholars class and why?
Investment banking in New York City!

  • Harper Yang

    Class of 2026
    Hometown: Edina, Minnesota
Marketing Major, Retail Studies, Classical Studies, and Healthcare Innovation & Design Minors

In a few words describe what you like about the Leavey Scholars Program.
Group projects are usually the worst part of formal education due to the misalignment of values, motivation and drive. In the Leavey Scholars Program, you take classes where you are surrounded by students whose motivation, quality of work, and ambition are all in alignment with your own.

What has been your favorite Leavey Scholars class and why?
FNCE121S with Samuel Lee. Prior to taking this class I was terrified to take Introduction to Finance in the scholars program, thinking it was going to make a difficult course even more rigorous. However, Samuel Lee crafted the course so excellently that it made an intimidating course, one that I looked forward to attending (even at 8:30 am). Professor Lee teaches concepts at a digestible pace with relevant examples and in such a comprehensive way that everything from the first week came full circle by the end of the course.

  • Iliana Matar

    Class of 2026
    Hometown: Hillsborough, California
    Economics Major, Spanish Minor

What has been your favorite Leavey Scholars class and why?
I love being able to take classes with other Leavey Scholars and form new connections with students in my grade!

What has been your favorite Leavey Scholars class and why?
Management 80. I enjoyed the structure of the class was unlike any other class I have taken. Rather than the typical tests or quizzes, we created a case study about NVIDIA and had the opportunity to go to NVIDIA.
