Andrew Meylan : La Ceiba
This week La Ceiba had some ups and downs, but our team feels confident that the future holds promise. Our budgeting situation has been frustrating, due to inconsistent estimates and plans from CET pertaining to the patio project. Blame rests with all involved parties, but the bottom line is that our plans were not adequately solidified early in the planning phase, which is keeping us from moving forward with the construction. The new quote is over 300% of the original estimate and includes fewer projects than the La Ceiba owners were originally promised. Keeping Rufino and Casy’s trust with our team and in the project is a challenge that we as a team are striving to overcome.
With a more solidified budget and start date, we are excited to share the news with the owners and identify priorities for projects. Since the quote is beyond our endowment, the owners will have to commit their own capital to complete all the projects. They have expressed that they are capable of this, but we want to work with them, advise them, and make sure that is the right decision given their constraints.
Positive progress has been made in several sectors. We are excited to train the owners on the POS system. Also, we made progress on the SEO. Now, when you search for our restaurant on Google there are no inconsistencies with the address. Additionally, La Ceiba appears earlier in general Google searches for “Mexican restaurants,” “taquerias,” and “mariscos.” The progress is promising and we look forward to continued improvement.
