Dillon Foehr : Taqueria La Mejor 2
After a few weeks of this quarter under our belt, our group has connected with the Center for Employment Training (CET) and is successfully on our way to transforming Taqueria La Mejor 2. We have already completed a few minor tasks to help our business owner, Ms. Tapia, and have our sights set on our future tasks. This last week, we met with our CET group and set up a time frame for completing our tasks.
In addition to creating a schedule for completing CET’s tasks, our group decided to approach our goals in a different way than previously planned. We had originally decided to work chronologically through our tasks as a team. However, we’ve determined that, in order to complete everything by the end of the quarter, dividing up the tasks and assigning them to individual people in the group will be more effective. As a result, I was responsible for ordering table numbers and I will be responsible for creating a takeaway menu. Laura is in charge of establishing an online presence with Samantha, and promoting fountain drinks. Samantha has been put in charge of heading the change of restaurant hours. With this responsibility, she will meet with Ms. Tapia and discuss her priorities regarding the hours of operation. As a way for our business owner to properly track her orders, we wanted to make sure that she understands the point-of-sale system she has installed. In order to do so, Colin plans to meet with a Bank of America representative and relay the information he obtains about the Clover POS system to our business owner. Last but not least, Jamal plans to address the landscaping in front of the restaurant. In doing so, we plan to plant a community garden in front of the restaurant to promote community involvement – which may also hopefully bring beneficial foot traffic.
As I have said before, our group is extremely excited to finally make changes in and around Taqueria La Mejor 2 and to help Ms. Tapia her business grow in all directions!
