Grant Chou - La Ceiba

Grant and his team are getting a feel for the competition in the local area, and familiarizing themselves with La Ceiba's situation.

In week 6, team La Ceiba is getting a feel for the market and discovering what attracts and retains customers here. We have identified the direct competitors within a half a mile radius of the restaurant as well as the more well renowned Mexican restaurants in the area. Comparing prices, offerings, customer demographics, physical aesthetic and overall “feel” of each restaurant. The prices are all relatively the same, but there doesn’t seem to be any other restaurant that is going for the exact market that La Ceiba is targeting.

Customer surveys were created and successfully implemented attempting to figure out age demographic, how customers felt their food and service was, and if it was appropriately priced. We are currently analyzing the responses as well as the comments that were left and hopefully, we can get a better sense of what La Ceiba’s strengths and weaknesses are.

We are also beginning to think about how we can best market La Ceiba from social media to aesthetic appeal. They created a fairly successful Facebook page about a year ago and we are working to get that up and running again. La Ceiba has a couple opportunities physically with their unused back area, fence space for murals, empty sign above the restaurant and ineffective light up sign by the window.

As we learn more and more about La Ceiba and the surrounding area, team La Ceiba is getting excited about the potential opportunities presenting themselves that could really improve upon this already popular restaurant.
