Jerica Schlachter : La Ceiba
On Tuesday, four members of Silicon Valley De-Bug came to speak to our class about their organization. Nationally, they work with incarcerated individuals to get them the most help in the court process as possible. Locally, they work for individuals in the valley to share their stories in order to bring awareness to the parts of Silicon Valley that are often overlooked. They compiled these stories from a magazine to a book that we read in the class and came to lead a discussion with us. It was a great experience to be able to hear another perspective of people living in the valley around us.
This week, the La Ceiba team has been very busy getting our plan of action into action! We met with the owners and the CET students in order to get plans finalized for the patio. Now we are waiting on a finalized budget and then CET will begin work on renovating the patio and possibly back area.
On Monday, two of our members are going to La Ceiba to work with the business owner's husband on the POS system. Currently, he has all of the information, but we want him to start using it to order food in order to track profits and popular dishes more efficiently. This will lead to the creation of the new menu that we are looking to design through a website with templates. Hopefully the new sales tracking technique will clearly define which items need to be emphasized and which need to be eliminated.
