Juanita’s Flowers Update
This week in Juanita’s Flowers shop, we assisted with Mother’s Day sales by creating posters and flyers that could be printed out to hang in the store or hand out to passers-by. Moreover, we have been getting closer to finalizing their new and improved logo, which will then allow us to start working on business cards. Both, Esthela and Sandra, have been working with Yacanex ordering and purchasing a sign to have at their storefront. This is expected to be our greatest expense and thus, where most of our grant money will be allocated. We are very excited to make this long term investment, and are hoping that the store’s new visibility will effectively attract new customers. During my last visit to the store, I helped to deliver some of the pre-ordered corsages and boutonnieres for the one of our group members’ former high school prom. These turned out very well, and the customers were extremely happy with the product and the overall purchase. We have also been discussing with Sandra the investment in a Quickbooks tutorial to assist her as she utilizes and maneuvers around the program. We anticipate that this is our next expense using the grant money, thus we have been researching different options so as to find the best and most educationally effective deal for Sandra. Other things we are continuing to work on include the new photographs that Christian has been taking (used for Mother’s Day flyer) as well as the book of collected images to serve as a source of inspiration and ideas for Juanita’s Flowers in the future. Sandra and Esthela have already seen an increase in their sales and in-store drop-ins. Overall, we have seen promising results from our improvements, and are excited to help the business grow and succeed even further as we begin to approach the end of the quarter, and our final weeks working with the business.
