Oniel Lucrisia : Center for Employment Training

Oniel talks about her experiences at her fellowship with the Center for Employment Training.

When I first started out at Center for Employment Training, I had no idea what task I was taking on with Social Media. Managing 16 Facebook pages, Google+ pages a Twitter account, a YouTube channel, and was more than I expected in the best way possible. I hopped right in, learned, how to troubleshoot and manage multiple accounts at the same time. Although I have managed multiple accounts at the same time, I feel this allowed me to ground myself at CET. Through this experience, I found different ways to simplify and organize the CET Social Media platform.

In the beginning, I expected to be given instructions, but I soon learned at CET I could create my own projects. My favorite project was creating a Social Media Tool Kit, which included procedures and guidelines for using Facebook, Twitter and other Social Media accounts. Today, I had the opportunity to present this to regional directors, the education department, the HR department and others. This reminded me of the inclusive and powerful work environment of CET. I realized this is a work environment I would like to be in sometime in the future.

CET has taught me to be creative, innovative, and take initiative in both the community and workplace. In this sense, NPI has taught me to think outside of the box while also giving me a more realistic sense of what the workplace is like.  Surrounded by those who are passionate about their jobs and the purpose of CET, it has been a unique and rewarding experience for me. I am so grateful for this opportunity, and could not be happier I chose to be a part of the NPI program. It was not only a milestone in career growth, but also a huge part of my college experience.  And, just like that, I’m graduating. Thanks CET and NPI for everything!
