The Students in NPI Have Been Very Busy Wrapping Up the Quarter
In the past week, the students in NPI have been very busy in wrapping up the quarter and ensuring that they have finished all the work necessary to put their business owner in a good position after the academic year.
On Tuesday afternoon, my group met with Henry in the library to help establish his financial records on an online system named “Wave.” Henry brought all his financial transactions from March and April (we have already input his prior transactions) and we worked together studiously to get them in order. Additionally, to allow Henry to become familiar with the system, we had him input all the transactional data himself with our guidance. As the afternoon progressed, I believe that he is starting to get a grasp on how the system works and, with one more meeting to get things in order, I think Henry will well-prepared to work the system independently. Furthermore, once all of his finances are organized in an accurate manner on his financial statements, Henry will be able to apply for another loan to expand his business further by buying more debris boxes and possibly investing in another truck (most likely in about a year or two). Lastly, we have allocated the majority of our grant money to the purchase of another debris box for Green Bay Hauling and are in the process of obtaining the receipt of the transaction for the Santa Clara’s financial services to reimburse Henry.
In class, we prepared for our visit to Cristo Rey High School by going through the itinerary for next week and discussing topics that we should be prepared to talk about while at the school. Also, halfway through class, we celebrated Yacanex’s great accomplishment of graduating from San Jose State University over Bundt cakes and cider. CONGRATS YACANEX!!!
