There Are Many Things to Be Done but We Are Staged for Efficiently Executed Progress
After visiting and shadowing the flower shop last week, our group came out with a lot of new ideas, inspirations, and takeaways. Beyond experiencing Sandra’s and Estella’s day to day life, my groupmate, Spencer, and I were able to visit another close-by flower shop in order to explore other competitive aspects of the business that we might be overlooking. One key observation that stood out to us was the layout and presentation of both flower shops.
We visited Citti’s Florist before going to visit Floreria Juanita, and made note of Citti’s Florist vast display. With more experience in the industry and a bigger space to work with, Citti’s store does hold a more visible presence in terms of their floral displays; however, this is not something that is unknown by Sandra and Estella. As we entered Floreria Juanita, improving the interior of their shop quickly became one of the first topics of discussion that Sandra brought up. It was very relieving to hear that we were on the same page about certain concerns, and we are looking forward to brainstorming ideas about cost-effective ways to improve and refine the store’s aesthetic. So far, our ideas include investing in silk flowers to serve as long-term displays, and we have plans to continue exploring other flower shops around the area.
Upon leaving the shop, we came to several conclusions, including changing their name to a more accessible and search-friendly, such as Juanita’s Bouquets. Sandra also had expressed plans of altering the design and layout of her website as well as updating the Yelp account. Sandra had asked me to assist her in improving the design of her business card, and we made plans to do so as soon as we take the new photos of their products.
Last class, we were provided with great resources by one of our instructors, Trish, to assist us in searching for additional research on the flower shop industry. With this and the ideas and plans we have formed with Sandra and Estella, it is exciting to see where things are going. There are many things to be done, but we have two meetings set with them for next week to ensure clearly communicated and efficiently executed progress.
