This Quarter We Get to Do the Fun Stuff: Implementing Our Plans and Seeing the Results!

Payton discusses his visit to the De-Bug office and her group's progress with implementing the plan for their business.

The second quarter being in this class has been much different than the first quarter. In the first quarter, we got to know our group and business owner, did industry research, and made a plan of action. This quarter we get to do the fun stuff: implementing our plans and seeing the results! I can tell that Henry is a lot more comfortable now, and is having fun learning and strategizing with us. I think our group has done a great job collaborating with Henry. We have learned to work well with each other and be flexible with one another. Even when we come up with a solid plan, at least one thing always varies from what we had expected, but we always end up problem solving and ending up where we need to be, sometimes even better than what we had planned.

Two days ago we went on a class trip to an organization called De-Bug. De-Bug is an organization that helps underprivileged people get the supoprt they need and have a voice as well. It was really cool to see how passionate all the workers were there, some of them had even worked there as a volunteer before getting paid just because they loved the job. Seeing the environment of the De-Bug workspace makes me want to work for a start up. A place where everyone working is like a family, and where everyone loves doing what they do and help each other to reach  a common goal. I have gained so much from this quarter even though it is only half over. I learned how to be a productive and efficient team member from Barry. I have learned many basic accounting skills as well as how to use a basic accounting application. I’ve also learned how to be flexible and adapt to unexpected obstacles. Most importantly, I’ve learned where to get custom t-shirts printed at a place where the proceeds go to a good cause (De-Bug). All in all, I have really enjoyed the class up to now and I am excited to see how it ends up!
