We Are Now Truly in the Execution Stage

Yuri talks about her visit to De-Bug and his group's progress with the new marketing strategy for Lucia Import's.

This week in NPI 6.0 our class met up at the headquarters of Silicon Valley De-Bug, a nonprofit, community-based justice-advocacy organization founded in San Jose in 2001. De-Bug’s three main operations are in storytelling, organizing, and advocacy, and the purpose of our visit was to immerse ourselves into the San Jose community and really learn what people are doing about various social justice issues.

De-Bug combines characteristics of a club and a communal agency to give its members a platform to share their story and voice their social concerns. The self-administration and active participation of its members contribute highly to its effective organization. Many of the members we met on Wednesday are young locals who initially found refuge in the De-Bug community to discuss issues that they or their close ones may have faced, such as being undocumented, being victim to police brutality, and facing unjust persecutions in the criminal justice system.

As far my team’s work with Licia Imports is going, we are now truly in the execution stage of helping our local small business reach out to new customers! Sergio and Licia loved the referral system that we had suggested two weeks ago! We decided that we would print these 10% coupons on the back of Licia Imports’s business cards and are excited to see how this promotion works once we distribute our flyers and cards in local Catholic churches this upcoming Sunday.
