With Winter Quarter Behind Us, Spring Quarter Holds Tremendous Promise

Sean Festle talks about the end of the winter quarter presentations and the plans for the spring quarter.

The uproar of last-minute papers and a coffee-fueled final finals week are finally coming to a close, as the exams and projects for which we feverishly prepared are now behind us. We look forward to a much-needed break before again navigating through the exciting, unfamiliar lineup of Spring Quarter classes. All will be new for us, it seems, except for BUSN 188, one of the few courses at Santa Clara to feature a versatile 20-week curriculum. During Week 10, each group carried a wealth of industry knowledge and research coupled with excellent camaraderie with their respective business owners. In the week leading up to our formal presentations, small groups had a chance to share with the class their progress over the course of winter quarter. This review was a strong reflection of our collective preparedness, and an even stronger indication of what is yet to come.

Our quarter-end BUSN 188 projects comprised of a comprehensive project outlook and business plan to be formally presented in front of the class and several special guests. On the day of our presentations, we were fortunate to have been joined by Executive VP of Wells Fargo , Jeff Rademann, as well as Drew Starbird, the creator of Santa Clara’s My Own Business Institute. Presenting our findings and long-term project framework in front of those who have supported the NPI class over the years was an honor. I was particularly proud of my own group – tasked with working with Licia Imports – to be able to come together and deliver a thoughtful presentation.

Judging from the positive response from the audience and our guests, one thing was made very clear: our class has the intellectual and creative horsepower to go above and beyond our objectives. I trust that spring quarter will be met with awesome success!
