What are you doing this summer? This summer, I worked as a Commercial Real Estate Valuation Intern at Andersen. I assisted in underwriting properties, analyzing market data, and contributing to appraisal reports for various asset types.
Hopefully you’ve grown both professionally and personally from this summer experience. Name one or two “life” lessons you learned and will carry forward after graduation. One lesson I learned is the importance of attention to detail. Small errors in valuations can have significant consequences, and being thorough is key. I also realized how valuable it is to ask questions and learn from experienced professionals, since those conversations often provided insights beyond what I could find in data.
What has been the most memorable part of your experience? The most memorable part of my internship was meeting my fellow interns, making new friends, and being able to explore San Francisco together. Those experiences outside of work made the summer both fun and meaningful.
What advice would you give to younger students who are searching for summer opportunities? Start networking and applying early, even if you’re unsure of the exact role you want. Talking to professionals can help clarify your interests, and taking initiative shows employers you’re serious. Don’t be afraid to aim high, many opportunities open up simply by putting yourself out there.
