What are you doing this summer? This summer I was a Wealth Management Intern for UBS in their Bellevue, Washington office. I gained exposure to client service strategies, portfolio construction, and the day-to-day operations of a leading advisory team.

Hopefully you’ve grown both professionally and personally from this summer experience. Name one or two “life” lessons you learned and will carry forward after graduation.  This summer taught me the importance of proactive communication, whether it was clarifying client requests or asking for more responsibility. I also learned that building trust is just as important as technical knowledge in wealth management, and that relationships drive long-term success.

What has been the most memorable part of your experience? One of the most memorable parts of my internship was sitting in on client meetings and seeing firsthand how financial advisors tailor solutions based on individual needs. It was rewarding to watch the human side of finance in action and understand how strategy meets empathy.

What advice would you give to younger students who are searching for summer opportunities?
Start by reflecting on which classes you’ve genuinely enjoyed, and explore roles related to those subjects. Leverage the faculty here in Leavey to help you. Passion leads to better questions, stronger interviews, and a more meaningful internship.
