Kraft Heinz
Bangkok, Thailand
What are you doing this summer? This summer I was a marketing intern at Kraft Heinz in their headquarters in Chicago. My project was creating a 3 year strategic plan for the brand Grey Poupon. I dove into all areas of the business through various coffee chats and team meetings including sales, R&D, marketing, finance, and innovation. The part that stood out most about this project was innovation where I dove into the world of consumer insights and even went a step further and conducted a taste testing for my team by mixing various extracts and ingredients into Grey Poupon to test flavor appeal and engagement.
Hopefully you’ve grown both professionally and personally from this summer experience. Name one or two “life” lessons you learned and will carry forward after graduation. The first life lesson I have learned from this internship experience is to have a deep wholistic understanding of the business. When in a new environment, or even role I think it is important to go above and beyond and look deeply into the history of the brand such as looking at its profit and loss statement from the past 5 years. The second life lesson I have learned is to have as many coffee chats as you can. In corporate America, there are many employees in the company so it is good to build a network and community. People are generally open and happy to have coffee chats and get to know you!
