New Leavey School of Business Faculty Teaching in the Winter Quarter 2019

Lan Jiang and Mahum Hussain are new marketing professors in the winter quarter. Also two new finance professors.

Mahum Hussain is a business and marketing professional with 12 years of experience in training, mentorship, and conducting corporate workshops for professionals and students in U.S., Singapore, and Pakistan.

Mahum is an academic lecturer by profession and has taught at Year Up Bay Area, Kaplan Higher Education, ICRI Global Research, and Northern University. She has been teaching Marketing, Management, Consumer Behavior, and Communication-related subjects. In addition to her academic teaching, she also volunteered in OPEN Silicon Valley, worked in Miller Center at Santa Clara University, an advertising company in Pakistan, and a call center in Singapore. She is holding BBA (hons.) and MBA degree from Hamdard University, and specialized Diploma for Teachers and Trainers from Cambridge UK.

"I am looking forward to creating a constructivist classroom and building an environment where my students are actively engaged and learn about current marketing trends and patterns."

  

Patrick Williams, M.B.A., is a customer and consumer marketer who joins Santa Clara University, following nearly 20 years working with leading brands (e.g. Cheerios®, Betty Crocker®, Call of Duty® and Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs) and strategic customers (e.g. Wal-Mart, Costco, Best Buy and Petco). Williams holds a Master of Business Administration from The University of Southern California and has taught undergraduates and post-graduate students at the University of California-University Extension since 2013. New to the Bay Area, Patrick, his wife, Lori, and family moved to the area in July of '17. So, when he's not at the Leavey School of Business, Patrick is out getting acquainted with the area.

"Whether we realize or not, we all have an incredible amount of experience in Marketing-- as Consumers. I'm excited to be in-class with undergraduates, where we can apply concepts and the underlying strategy to their experiences. Further, I'm excited to learn how they'll shape the future of marketing through unique tools and technology."

 

Dr. Manish Tewari is currently an adjunct lecturer of finance at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business and an associate professor of finance at Menlo College. Tewari’s major areas of research are in corporate bonds, financial derivatives, and corporate social responsibility. He has published papers on corporate bond provisions including publication in the top journal in finance, Journal of Financial Economics. His research in the field of corporate social responsibility has led to publication in the prestigious Journal of Business Ethics.  Dr. Tewari has extensive teaching experience in finance and has taught a wide variety of finance courses including corporate finance, investments, money and banking, financial modelling, and student investment funds. He has an undergraduate degree in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi and a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Central Florida, Orlando, FL.

 

Dr. Ning Pu received her Ph.D. in Finance from University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2016. She taught Financial Management 121 in the Fall quarter of 2018 and will continue to teach Financial Management and another course - Apply Financial Models to Financial Data - in the Winter quarter of 2019.   She worked as a research associate at NERA Economic Consulting's Finance and Mass Tort Practice in NYC before getting her Ph.D. In her spare time, she likes to play the piano and travel with her husband and their two kids.
