Major: Accounting & Information Systems
Minor: Philosophy
Tips:
- We are so fortunate to have access to professors that work in the industry, have had incredibly successful careers outside of teaching, and are passionate about their field. Take advantage of them & get to know your professors! Professors are incredibly great resources for networking and learning about different career options.
- Take academic advising seriously! Your Peer Advisor is super knowledgeable on how to maximize your schedule & developing plans to minor in something as well.
- Go to ALL the career fairs you can! Though employers may not be looking for First Years, developing relationships with recruiters early on can be beneficial when you are in the target year for internships.
- Office hours are your friend. Professors are always willing to help you, as long as you ask! Even if you don’t have pressing questions on the material, chatting with your Professor through problem sets & quizzes is very helpful when it’s time to review for finals!
- Take advantage of everything! I always remind myself that it’s better to be overdressed than underdressed, over prepared than under prepared, and overly ambitious than apathetic. You have so many resources at your disposal that will help you in all your years at SCU. Use the career center for advice on interview attire & tips. Go to Student Alumni Council events to network and learn more about The Bronco Family. Be present, be excited, and always be ready to learn more!
