We interviewed Manasvini to ask her about why she decided to apply to the LSB 4+1 Master's program and what has been her experience with the program so far.

Why did you decide to pursue a 4+1 MS degree?  Which one are you working towards?
I discovered the 4+1 program during my sophomore year. At this time, I was not really sure what I wanted to do after graduation. Although I was interested in pursuing a Master’s degree, I was also leaning towards beginning my career. I soon learnt that SCU had a 4+1 MS program where I could begin taking MS courses in my senior year, and I would be able to receive my Master’s only a year later. This interested me, and as a MIS student who is passionate about analytics, I decided to apply for the 4+1 MS Business Analytics program.

How many classes have you taken so far in the program?  How do you like the classes?
I took my first class in the program last quarter, and I am currently taking another this quarter. The first class I took was Econometrics with R, and the one I am taking right now is Marketing Analytics. At first, when I realized that I would be taking classes with graduate students, I was a bit worried that I would stick out. Fortunately, all my classmates have been very nice and encouraging. The classes are great and so far my teachers have been amazing and very helpful whenever I needed clarification.

Are you finding it hard to manage the undergrad load and 4+1 courses?
This was actually one of my main concerns when applying for the program. At first, I was worried that I would be overwhelmed with both undergraduate and graduate courses. However, I was able to finish all of my major requirements before I started taking my 4+1 classes. This way, I only have my minor requirements left, so I am comfortably managing 4+1 classes and my last few undergraduate classes.

Are you planning to work and finish your 4+1 program?
I have the option of working for a year and then finishing my last year of the 4+1 program. I have still not made my final decision on whether I will take this route.

Anything else you want to share about your experience at LSB or SCU?
Overall, I’ve had a great experience at LSB. All my teachers were approachable and friendly, and all my peers were supportive and kind. The workload was always manageable and the class curricula were thorough. SCU is an amazing school and I will miss it a lot once I graduate.
