Neighborhood Prosperity Initiative/BUSN 188 Information Sessions
Come to an NPI Info Session and learn how you can earn credit, satisfy your ELSJ requirement, and gain meaningful, real-world experience in every facet of business, with a special focus on COVID-19 survival and recovery.
In NPI, students work in groups as business consultants, closely collaborating with business owners from underserved communities in San Jose. During the winter quarter student teams develop an action plan which they then implement in the spring quarter. Each team receives funding for its approved action plan, made possible by a generous grant from Wells Fargo Bank. NPI provides students with valuable, real-world business experience in marketing, accounting, strategy, operations, and more. Many alumni identify NPI as one of their most important and valuable college experiences. This year students will have a unique opportunity to help businesses survive and recover amid the pandemic and its economic consequences. Drew Starbird, Ph.D., LSB Professor of Information Systems and Analytics and Executive Director of the My Own Business Institute (MOBI), will lead the course, along with a teaching team.
Interested students can learn more and meet previous NPI students by attending a virtual Information Sessions:
Monday, October 26, 5:00-6:00pm PST (Zoom)
Wednesday, October 28, 12:30-1:30pm PST (Zoom)
Zoom information is posted in these event entries in the Get Connected calendar as well. Students can also email Professor Starbird at sstarbird@scu.edu. NPI is open to freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
