Congratulations to Laney Cardenas, Adrian Lee, Brandon Rhodes, Zachery Rodrigues, the Biketopia team, for getting 3rd place in the MikesBikes World Competition! Check out what these students had to say about their experience.
"I am grateful that I was given the opportunity to represent my university and showcase our strength in the world of business. Although MikesBikes is only a simulation, I feel like I learned a lot of important lessons along the journey that can be transferred to real life, which is more important than winning the game itself in my opinion. Some of the key lessons that helped us stay successful were to always take every opportunity for growth, leverage our strengths, and stay focused on the details while still seeing the big picture. Most importantly, my advice for MikesBikes as well as business and investing in general is to stay consistent with your strategy and play on the safer side while taking controlled risks, which proved to be especially important in the rapidly changing circumstances the game presented. Overall, I'm satisfied with the final result, and I recognize that there is always an element of luck in anything one does." - Adrien Lee
"The Mike's Bikes competition is definitely more competitive for the World Competition, a lot of teams used good strategies, but what helped our team be successful was playing a more patient game, allowing us to have huge SHV growth in the long run." - Zachary Rodrigues
“The competition presented unfamiliar challenges, but ultimately our success came as a result of our adequate preparation, our trust in each other, and the growth mindset we each adopted. The experience was enjoyable, instructive, and hopefully inspiring to future competitors in the MikesBikes World Competition from Santa Clara University.” - Brandon Rhodes
"MikesBikes World Competition was a great experience for my team and me. I am glad I got to represent Santa Clara University and apply some of the business concepts I had learned about in class. For example, in class we had a guaranteed share but in our MikesBikes simulation we didn’t. Therefore, it was crucial to come up with a plan that would help us create a good amount of market share per bike. I enjoyed strategizing and collaborating with my teammates to land our 3rd place spot in the competition. Overall, I was thankful to be a part of this amazing opportunity!" - Laney Cardenas
