Marketing Major
Study Abroad: Madrid, Spain
Do you have a favorite class that you are taking? Why?
My favorite class right now is Corporate Psychology because it connects psychology to real workplace situations, showing how emotions, communication, and mindset affect collaboration. As a marketing major, it’s especially valuable for understanding human behavior and building strategies that resonate with people. Our teacher keeps the class highly engaging by having us share personal experiences and her own, creating a trusted, well-connected environment where we can apply these concepts in practical ways.
What do you like about your program/university?
I really enjoy my program at Nebrija University because it combines academic learning with unique cultural experiences. The courses are engaging and hands-on, and the program also offers activities like wine tastings, cooking classes, excursions, and opportunities to speak with local Spanish-speaking students. These experiences help me practice the language, learn about the culture, and apply what I’m learning in a real-world context.
What has been your favorite place that you visited so far or favorite part about your city? Why?
My favorite part about being in Spain has been living in Madrid and experiencing its amazing culture and energy. I love how everything happens later in the day, which fits perfectly with my own schedule, and how almost everything is within walking distance. The city is beautiful, full of historic streets, stunning architecture, delicious food, and a lively, vibrant atmosphere with always something new to see or do.
What advice would you give to the Leavey students planning to study abroad next year?
My advice for students applying for study abroad is to connect with SCU’s Global Learning team as early as possible. This gives you more time to think through where you want to go while also having an amazing resource to guide you through the process. I also recommend saving some of your core classes for abroad or checking in advance for course equivalencies so you can get credit while taking easier classes and focusing on fully immersing yourself in the city and culture.
