Do you have a favorite class that you are taking? Why?
My favorite class that I’m taking abroad is Korean 1. I am so grateful for the fact that I am able to learn the language in it’s country of origin and to be able to apply the vocabulary and everything we have learned to the real world. It’s a nice feeling of accomplishment when I was not able to read or understand anything when I first arrived versus now I am able to read signs on the streets, menu items, and even pick up some words here and there.

What do you like about your program/university?
The one thing that surprised me the most (in a good way) about Yonsei University was the amount of school spirit. Attending the Yon-ko Games was truly a sight to see. Everyone was adorned in their school colors, everyone was standing up singing, chanting, and swaying despite the rainy weather. I loved the atmosphere and energy every single student put in to cheering at the event!

What has been your favorite place that you visited so far or favorite part about your city? Why?
My favorite place that I visited so far in Seoul is the Banpo Bridge Rainbow Fountain. My favorite part about Seoul is the Han River. I found that there are so many activities that revolve around the river, such as the Banpo Bridge rainbow water show. The colorful lights and music coming from the bridge is like unreal. Biking along the Han River especially at night while the music from the water show is playing in the background is also an unforgettable experience.

What advice would you give to the Leavey students planning to study abroad next year?
I would advise anyone interested in studying abroad to join the study abroad information sessions that SCU’s Global Learning team offers. They are very helpful in teaching you about the whole process of applying from beginning to end and to answer any questions about it! I would also suggest being up to date on the application deadlines and to check your emails frequently as to not miss any important information.
