Andrea Hu presented her paper “Space and Memory: The Gendered Remembrance of Funerary Art in Early Renaissance of Florence.” She argued for an expanded view of funerary art in the Renaissance in order to make visible the commemoration of women, and that all funerary art at this time was highly gendered in its form, location, and function. Andrea was joined by representatives from University of San Francisco, San Jose State University, Stanford University, Saint Mary’s College, UC, Berkeley, CSU East Bay, UC Davis, and California College of the Arts. Two graduate students from UC Berkeley responded to the papers and moderated a Q and A session. A reception followed the event.

Congratulations Andrea Hu for representing Santa Clara University at the Annual Bay Area Undergraduate Student Research Symposium.
