Art History Capstone Exhibit at the de Saisset

June Wayne and the Tamarind Lithography Workshop on view through June 17 at the de Saisset Museum.

Santa Clara University seniors Lauren Stein and Maggie Walter developed this exhibition as part of their Art History capstone project. Working in the Winter quarter with faculty advisor Andrea Pappas, Associate Professor in SCU’s Department of Art and Art History, and de Saisset Museum staff, Stein and Walter researched artworks from the de Saisset Museum’s permanent collection and developed a project focused on artist June Wayne. In addition to preparing formal research papers, Stein and Walter wrote the texts and envisioned the layout featured in this gallery.

Additional artworks by June Wayne from the museum’s permanent collection are on view in the public display drawers around this gallery.

This project is the foundation for the museum's fall exhibition opening in late September 2023. Stein and Walter are joined in collaboration with Art History senior Annika Singh, with support from SCU's de Saisset Museum and Department of Art and Art History, and curator Robert Conway, to expand their capstone into a fully realized exhibition.
