Student-Curated Virtual Exhibitions

Students enrolled in Art History 140: Photography in the U.S., taught by Associate Professor Andrea Pappas, developed a series of virtual exhibitions featuring artworks from the de Saisset Museum's permanent collection.

SCU Students in the Winter 2021 course Art History 140: Photography in the U.S., taught by Associate Professor Andrea Pappas from the Department of Art and Art History, developed a series of virtual exhibitions featuring artworks from the de Saisset Museum's permanent collection. The virtual exhibition runs from May 24 through July 2, 2021.

Amidst the pandemic, and a fully remote educational experience for most students, the de Saisset Museum sought new ways to engage SCU students with the museum's collection and exhibitions. In partnership with Associate Professor Andrea Pappas, we developed a completely new model for engaging students in the process of curation and exhibition development -- a structure that, while precipitated by the remote learning scenario, offers a template for expanded engagement of SCU students in the curation process for years to come.

We hope you enjoy this contribution to the learning community and take time to read and explore the seven exhibitions.

Thank you and congratulations to the twenty-two students involved in this inaugural project! Learn more about the process and access the exhibitions on our website: https://www.scu.edu/desaisset/exhibitions/arth140/
