Alumni Spotlight: Annie McDonald

Annie McDonald graduated from Santa Clara University in March 2016 with a B.S. in Political Science and a minor in English. Starting as an intern in the district office of Congressman Eric Swalwell (CA 15th district) while a student, she began working as the District Scheduler for Congressman Swalwell after graduation.

In July of this year, Annie transitioned to the role of Constituent Services Representative. In her new job, she handles fieldwork and casework on issues such as senior citizen concerns, disability rights, women’s reproductive rights, and domestic violence. The programs and federal agencies she communicates with include Social Security, Medicare, the Office of Personnel Management, the Department of Labor, the Internal Revenue Service, and the United States Postal Service.

Annie is currently applying to graduate programs in Public Policy. She hopes to use her future public policy degree to play a greater role in the legislative process and policy advocacy at the federal level.
