Last summer, Jack Herstam worked as a Jean Donovan Fellow in Capetown, South Africa. Jack spent six weeks interning for The Message Trust, an organization that works with at-risk youth. Outside the office, Jack spent his time visiting prisons and townships to assist The Message in reducing teen involvement in gangs. He also traveled around the city to generate sponsors and advertisement for the organization's Three Peaks fundraiser challenge. Jack's biggest takeaway from the summer:

"If you listen to the voices of marginalized individuals, their voices become so much more empowered."

Jack is a senior Political Science and Ethnic Studies double major and is currently serving as the Student Body President.
