On March 12, 2018, Deogratias Niyizonkiza ("Deo"), founder and CEO of Village Health Works (VHW) visited Santa Clara University for the Valeriote Goldman Symposium for Social Justice and Public Health. The Public Health program was honored to host Deo and VHW, whose mission is to strengthen and rebuild in Burundi, Africa through improving health and dignity. VHW operates an exemplary community-involved, modern health care clinic (soon to be a hospital) in Burundi, which brings much-needed healing and community to the surrounding region. Deo packed the house and inspired students across campus with his personal story and the work of VHW.
