Three RS Students awarded opportunities to grow as an ethical leader

Religious Studies majors Laura Clark ‘24 and Blaise Burbank ‘24 and Religious Studies minor Hydeia Wysinger ‘25 are a part of the Hackworth Fellowship Program. The fellowship allows students to engage more deeply in the application of ethics to a topic of concrete concern, to complete an important project related to that concern, and to grow as an ethical leader.

This year's cohort kicked off the first of many projects with an event tackling "What does it mean to be human in the time of AI?," organized and moderated by Hackworth Fellow Laura Clark. Clark summarizes her event as, "Considering questions regarding human flourishing, how we understand individual and humanity’s purpose in relation to emerging AI technologies, and where the fear of AI arises from." The conversation featured three panelists — Maya Ackerman, David DeCosse, and Eric Haynie — coming together with the goal of furthering student, staff, faculty, and community reflection.
