He taught four classes there: Christianity and Politics; the Ethics of War and Peace; the Theology and Ethics of Thomas Aquinas; and Conscience, Catholicism, and Politics. While in Japan, he blogged for the National Catholic Reporter and completed a Moral Notes article for Theological Studies on the theme of conscience, Catholicism, and politics. DeCosse interviewed Japanese Catholic Bishop Taiji Katsuya with the help of interpreter Shino Akiyama, on November 10 in Tokyo for an article in the National Catholic Reporter. Bishop Katsuya, from Hokkaido in northern Japan, is the chair of the Japanese Catholic Council for Justice and Peace.
