Exploring the First Great Awakening and its greatest apologist and theologian, Jonathan Edwards, Spider in a Tree touches on religion and slavery and the friction between the roughness of everyday 18th-century life and the life of the spirit.
Susan Stinson is the author of three novels and a collection of poetry. She is also Writer in Residence at Forbes Library in Northampton, Massachusetts.
