In the event of your accidental death due to traveling on SCU business, your beneficiary will receive a benefits amount equal to $100,000. Santa Clara University provides group voluntary Long-Term Care through CNA. This is an insurance program designed to provide benefits to assist with the cost of Nursing Home and/or Community Based Care required because an insured has a qualified impairment. Please see plan materials for details.

  1. Regular full-time employees working a minimum of 20 hours per week, ages 18 and over
  2. Spouses and Domestic Partners ages 18 -75
  3. Extended family ages 18-75: parents, grandparents, siblings, children (including step and in-laws)

Because the short term disability coverage is an employee paid benefit, any disability payments made to you will not be taxable. The long term disability coverage is an employer paid benefit and is available for employees at no cost; any disability payments made to you will be taxable

Disability

The long term disability (LTD) program replaces your income during times when you cannot work due to illness or injury. The coverage begins immediately, with you and Purdue each paying half the cost. The plan pays 65 percent of your base pay in the event of disability that lasts more than six months. A one-year pre-existing condition clause applies.
