Cat Durden

Published Article by Studio Art Majors

Lindsay Halladay (Psychology & Neuroscience) published an article in Frontiers for Young Minds, with the help of two SCU undergrads, Cat Durden '19 (Biochemistry & Studio Art) and Shawn Yang '19 (Studio Art). The article, "Look out! How teams of brain cells help keep us safe from harm," is based on Lindsay's previously published work on neural circuits mediating defensive responses, but transformed into an article intended for kids to learn how the brain helps us make decisions during danger. Frontiers for Young Minds is an open-access scientific journal written by scientists and reviewed by a board of kids and teens. Cat and Shawn were part of a unique collaboration between SCU Neuroscience and Studio Arts, using their talents to illustrate one of the figures for the publication.
