What is the value of an MBA?
The job market is constantly in flux, and you don’t want to be caught in its tides. Unlike other master’s degrees, an MBA gives you a broad understanding of many facets of business: finance, marketing, human resources and operations, to name a few. Since an MBA is so highly regarded and widely recognized, it will expand your career prospects and equip you with the right tools as the job search gets increasingly competitive. With each level of education, you will pick up more skills and prove to employers that you are capable of following through on important tasks and goals.
And, of course, there’s the pay. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, your earnings increase along with your education level, and the likelihood of unemployment decreases. Workers who hold master’s degrees earn 20% more than those at a bachelor’s level, and Leavey School of Business alumni are among the best-compensated MBA graduates in the country: the average mid-career salary for a Leavey graduate is $167,800, which places them in the top 10 nationally in this category.
