Dr. Jo-Ellen Pozner invited panelist re: Authentic Board Diversity
Dr. Jo-Ellen Pozner was recently an invited panelist on the topic of how to drive authentic diversity in corporate governance. One in a series of conversations on diversity in Silicon Valley, this December 2020 event featured a panel discussion moderated by Barry Lawson Williams, a retired consulting and investment executive with decades of experience on corporate boards. Other panelists included Byron Loflin, Global Head of Board Engagement at Nasdaq, and Neda Mansoorian, a lawyer, entrepreneur, and board member. Dr. Pozner brings 15 years of research and teaching about corporate governance and its relationship to organizational culture and team dynamics.
This panel addressed the problem of diversity on U.S. corporate boards, which lack gender and racial representation. Led by Williams, the panel discussed the case for diversity in governance and proposed means of improving representation. It also entertained questions about the stumbling blocks to achieving diversity goals and ways to overcome them.
