Hersh Shefrin, Mario L. Belotti Professor of Finance, was featured on a panel for TRT Media Worldwide about the fall of Elizabeth Holmes and her scam company, Theranos. He introduces a powerful idea that Theranos was “driven by groupthink”, having its employees follow their leader religiously. He was also quoted in Barron’s about his tips for improved investing strategies where he explained the significance of a positive mindset even through the investment of stocks.

View a loss as a “transfer of assets” from stocks that have gone down to stocks or funds that make sense in the current environment, he says. “Avoid the phrase ‘selling your losers’ because that makes you feel like a loser. Winners transfer their assets.”
