Mark Silacci : Californian Readers Love Swenson & Silacci : The Californian

Alumnus Mark Silacci ’91 shares the story of Swenson & Silacci after the store won another Readers’ Choice Award for best florist.

Alumnus Mark Silacci MBA ’91, has lost track of how many times his business, Swenson & Silacci, has been awarded the Readers’ Choice Award for best florist. Nevertheless, he shares that every year, the honor is immensely appreciated and never taken as a foregone conclusion. In an article published in The Californian, Silacci shares the story of the business.

In 1958, Edward Silacci joined the company as a delivery person. Ed, Mark’s father, was made a partner in 1966, and the name of the business was changed to Swenson & Silacci Flowers.

The Swensons retired in 1970 and sold the store to Ed Silacci.

In 1994, Mark Silacci joined the business after graduating with honors from the MBA program at Santa Clara University. Ed Silacci is retired from the business but still comes by the store, Mark Silacci said.

The stores have become well known throughout the United States thanks to the Internet. Silacci said customers order flowers online and by telephone from throughout the country.
