In a recent KPIX news piece, Professor of Management Tammy Madsen discusses the challenges and answers Tesla must now face with a smaller labor force.

Tesla’s workforce will see a decrease of around 3000 workers as the company aims to reduce costs and maintain its promised base price of $35,000 for its Model 3. The news was received negatively by investors with a drop in the stock price; however, Madsen suggests that layoffs are part of the “growing pains” a start-up like Tesla must face. Madsen advises Tesla to consider an important factor in its decision which is whether it will be able to increase its volume of production even with a smaller labor force.
