SANTA CLARA, Calif. (January 26, 2021)
In an unprecedented jump of over 90 spots, Santa Clara University’s Online MBA has been ranked No. 40 by U.S. News and World Report. Of the 324 ranked programs, the online MBA out of the Leavey School of Business places within the top 15%, making it the No.1 program in the Bay Area and the No. 3 program in California. Drawing specific attention from the national ranking authority, the program’s finance concentration received a No. 10 ranking, while the marketing concentration came in at No. 12.
The newest ranking from U.S. News & World Report rounds out the three MBA programs offered by SCU’s graduate business school, all of which are now in the top 40. Today’s announcement also comes on the heels of last month’s No. 14 Top Online MBA ranking from the Princeton Review, as well as a No. 10 ranking from Poets&Quants.
“We are thrilled to share the news of this exciting ranking for our Online MBA program,” Interim Dean, Naren Agrawal said. “Every day we strive to make our programs, curriculum, and student experience the best they can be and rankings such as this one are affirmation that this hard work is paying off for our students, alumni, and the entire SCU community.”
“Over the past year, we have seen a phenomenal increase in our admission standards including stronger test scores, an increase in average GPA, and a lower acceptance rate,” Senior Assistant Dean of Graduate Business Programs, Toby McChesney said. “These factors, when combined with favorable reviews from our peers, resulted in this tremendous improvement in rankings. It’s great to see that as our online program continues to grow, so too does the quality of our program, as well as the subsequent recognition.”
The Online MBA features a unique program theme centered around its location in the heart of Silicon Valley, emphasizing the development of students’ skills for innovation in the tech-driven region. Through the combination of an expansive alumni network and a focus on cohort group work, the Online MBA provides unparalleled networking opportunities in a remote setting. The program includes a focus on ethics and social responsibility, in keeping with the university’s Jesuit intellectual tradition.
“This newest recognition for our Online MBA program reflects the hard work of our faculty and staff, commitment to improvements in technology, and an incredible partnership with our platform provider, Everspring,” Faculty Director of MBA and Online Programs, Nydia MacGregor said. “By incorporating diverse online learning technologies, we are able to allow greater flexibility, career support, and engaging course content for our students. These tools are only amplified by our stellar faculty, who are not only experts in their field but have been fully-trained in online learning.”
