Each year, the Leavey School of Business inducts new students into its chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the national business honor society. Founded in 1913, with the Santa Clara chapter founded in 1955, the mission of Beta Gamma Sigma is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business, and personal and professional excellence. Membership is offered to students who show promise of success in the field of business. Only the top 10% of undergraduate students and the top 20% of graduate students in the Leavey School of Business are invited to join.

“These students embody the commitment to excellence and the intellectual values that are the soul of every University,” said Caryn Beck-Dudley, dean of the Leavey School of Business. “We are proud and honored to have them as a part of our community.”

This year’s Chapter Honoree, conferred upon those who have advanced the ideals of the Society through outstanding business and managerial leadership, is Bethany Mayer ‘83 (pictured right with Dean Beck-Dudley). A veteran of the tech industry with over 25 years of experience, she is president of the Ixia Solutions Group within Keysight Technologies. Passionate about advancing technology, she was named by CRN as a Top 25 Disruptor in the technology industry in 2015, and was selected by the National Diversity Council as one of the 2016 Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Technology. Mayer holds a BS from Santa Clara University, an MBA from CSU Monterey Bay, and serves on the Leavey School of Business advisory board.
