Leavey School of Business Dean Rings NYSE Closing Bell

In honor of Leavey's centennial, Dean Grier and several faculty members, alumni, and trustees took over the New York Stock Exchange to celebrate 100 years of business education.

NEW YORK, NY (July 31, 2023)

In honor of the Leavey School of Business’ 100th anniversary, Dean Ed Grier rang the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) closing bell on Thursday, July 27. Joined on stage by notable Leavey School of Business faculty, alumni, and trustees, the bell-ringing marked a rare opportunity for an educational institution and a momentous occasion in Leavey’s centennial celebration, symbolizing a century of excellence, growth, and innovation in business education.

This is a pivotal time for both the technology industry and higher education, and Leavey stands at the epicenter, focused on producing innovative and ethical business leaders for many industries that are driving the market. At the same time, the workforce is undergoing considerable decentralization, demanding that business leaders and workers develop new skills while corporations require guidance on how to navigate and leverage these changes. The Leavey School of Business’ deep-rooted tradition of values-based learning perfectly aligns the school to address these challenges while navigating technological advancements and key societal issues.
