Outstandingly Entrepreneurial

Senior Marco Ciccone named 2016 Outstanding Student Entrepreneur by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Marco Ciccone, a senior finance major and entrepreneurship minor, has been named this year’s Outstanding Student Entrepreneur by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. This annual award goes to a graduating senior enrolled in the entrepreneurship minor in recognition of significant achievements in the program, acknowledgement of accomplishments in entrepreneurship, and the promise of future success.

Marco is the CEO and co-founder of Spree, a free app providing a space for SCU students, faculty and staff to pursue sustainable commerce as they buy, sell, and trade goods and services within the community.

Active in the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Marco participated in the California Program for Entrepreneurship last year where he and his co-founder Riley Parsons won CIE’s $5,000 Business Plan Pitch Competition. He and his team attended multiple “Office Hours for Entrepreneurs” to meet with Silicon Valley experts and discuss Spree, presented to the CIE Advisory Board, and were included in a student startup showcase during SCU’s annual Family Weekend. Already giving back to the University, Spree is providing internship and career opportunities for fellow students.

In recognition of his entrepreneurial approach to sustainability practices, Marco will be presented the award at the Leavey School of Business Senior Awards Ceremony on June 10.

Congratulations to Marco Ciccone ‘16!
