Prof. Hooria Jazaieri, PhD named among Top Undergraduate Business Professors

Assistant Professor of Management, Dr. Jazaieri recognized for teaching and research in Top 50 list from Poets&Quants.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (April 13, 2022)

Congratulations to Assistant Professor of Management, Hooria Jazaieri, PhD who has been named as one of the Top 50 Undergraduate Business Professors by Poets&Quants. The honor, from Poets&Quants' fourth annual list, came in the form of nominations from 1000+ students, alumni, colleagues, and school deans and is based on a weighted consideration of research (30%) and teaching (70%).

“Professor Jazaieri is an incredible professor and very knowledgeable,” said a nominating student, Lucas. “She is willing to help students both inside and outside of the classroom. Her passion for management and care for her students is apparent from the very first class.”

Before joining the Leavey School of Business in 2020, Dr. Jazaieri earned a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, an MA in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University, and a BS in Psychology from the University of Washington.

In addition to being described as an “engaging, responsible, and organized” professor in the classroom, where she currently teaches Management of Organizations and Leadership, Dr. Jazaieri dedicates her time to research, examining individual reputation and emotion along with how people gain, lose, and recover their reputations. Most recently, Dr. Jazaieri has been working with a colleague to explore the function of expressions of gratitude in organizations.

“Professor Jazaieri is one of the most engaging professors at Santa Clara,” said a nominating student, Felicia. “She truly cares about her students and our success. I took two classes with her and could not recommend her more highly for this award!”

When it comes to teaching, Dr. Jazaieri shares the gratification she gets when watching her students utilize their newly acquired knowledge.

“I love watching business students immediately implement what they’re learning in the classroom to their lives outside of class,” Dr. Jazaieri said. “It’s quite satisfying when they can experience the application of concepts they’re learning in class in any given week.”
