Women's Corporate Board Readiness Program Goes Online!

The Silicon Valley Executive Center, part of the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University, is preparing to offer its Spring 2020 Women’s Corporate Board Readiness class fully online for the first time.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Apr. 14 2020—The Silicon Valley Executive Center, part of the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University, is preparing to offer its Spring 2020 Women’s Corporate Board Readiness class fully online for the first time.

"The pandemic is allowing us to rethink the way we deliver learning and network value to our communities, and we're excited to transition this program to its new online format,” said Dennis Lanham, Executive Director of the Silicon Valley Executive Center. “Going online allows us to reach more women so that we can continue to transform the world of governance to be more gender-neutral.”

The online version of Women’s Corporate Board Readiness will feature the same rigorous content that is typically offered in person, with faculty and speakers who are veteran online facilitators and teachers. Participants will be able to connect with their program mentor and peers virtually, with hopes of an in-person networking event when Santa Clara County shelter-in-place orders are lifted.

Because of the call for gender diversity on boards across the country, many women are joining boards as a first-time board director. The Silicon Valley Executive Center hopes that by making this program more accessible, it can be a part of the solution by giving more tools they need to be successful in their first role as a board director.

“This course allows you to learn the essential legal, regulatory, and operating knowledge you will need to serve on boards of directors, and at the same time connect with, and learn from, women who have achieved success as board members,” said Theresa Strickland, the program’s faculty director.

The Women’s Corporate Board Readiness program helps women with a minimum of 8 years of senior-level corporate or nonprofit management experience plan their path to board directorship. The Spring course takes place May 7-8 and June 4-5, with two webinars and individual coaching in between sessions.

Registrations are open now. Register now or contact the Silicon Valley Executive Center for more information.
