Carolyn Valencia: Fall 2020 with the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley!
Through the LSB Community Fellows Program, I am interning at the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley (HFSV). HFSV strives to support and empower its Latinx community by providing growth opportunities through their three pillars: Education Excellence, Leadership Development, and Convening and Engaging. Currently, I am interning with their Hispanic Foundation College Success Center and have had an amazing experience so far!
My first experience with HFSV was attending their first ever virtual Hispanic Foundation Ball. Although virtual, it was so inspiring to see the community and family HFSV has with its staff, scholars, and community partners. With more time at HFSV, it is amazing to see what the organization has done to engage with and stay connected to its families and students of all ages. So far, it has been so powerful to connect with my team and complete projects which impact our Latinx community in Silicon Valley, such as putting together a scholarship book for high school and college students. Going forward, I hope to continue working on being more creative in my role. In this virtual world, almost everything is new, so I hope to tailor to the new needs of my team and the Latinx community. I am so excited to be a part of the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley this year!
